Safe Lifting for load couplers and signalmen
The Swedish Work Environment Agency requires that all crane operators, load handlers and signalmen have training in safe lifting in order to use lifting devices and lifting equipment. Most accidents and incidents are due to ignorance. This training gives the participant knowledge to prevent accidents and reduce the risks of ill health and accidents at the workplace.
According to AFS 2006:6 § 29, a lifting device or a lifting tool may only be used by someone who is well acquainted with the work and has theoretical and practical knowledge for safe use. This applies regardless of the industry and context in which lifting is carried out, and regardless of the type of load involved. AFS 2006:6 establishes that it is the employer’s obligation to have documented knowledge for the employee.
