Hot work is a collective term for tasks performed using methods that can start fires, such as welding. Other activities that generate sparks or produce heat are also classified as hot work.
Malmfältens BolagsKonsult AB is an approved organizer by the Swedish Fire Protection Association to provide training in Hot Work.
Kursbeskrivning
**Hot Work** is a training program designed to inform and make participants aware of the significant fire hazards associated with such tasks. Training is mandatory if the work involves fire hazards. A valid **Hot Work Certificate** is obtained upon passing the final exam.
To perform hot work at temporary workplaces in Sweden and ensure insurance coverage, certification by the **Swedish Fire Protection Association** or **SVEBRA Education**, or equivalent organizations in other Nordic countries (excluding Iceland), is required. Additionally, written or digital authorization issued by a responsible permit issuer is mandatory.
The certificate is valid for five years and must be renewed thereafter. Work carried out in workshops or other specially adapted facilities does not require certification or permits. Insurance policies for residential houses and vacation homes do not specify requirements for permits or certification. This means that property owners can perform hot work without certification. However, contractors must comply with their insurance terms, requiring them to obtain a permit issued by a responsible permit issuer when working in residential houses or vacation homes.
Hot work must always be conducted in a way that prevents fires, especially when performed by private individuals. Agriculture also has specific regulations for **Hot Work**.
