Fall Protection with Rescue and Working at Heights – Fall Protection Training Complies with AFS 2023:11 § 2 on systematic work environment management, AFS 2023:11 § 13 on the regulation for the use of personal fall protection equipment, the Work Environment Act, and CE approvals.
Purpose of Lift Training and Certification.
The primary goal of completing lift training is to become a safe and risk-aware lift operator. Upon successful completion of the training with approved results, participants receive a lift training certificate that complies with the Work Environment Act and the Swedish Work Environment Authority's regulations. This certification is valid for five years and must then be renewed through a refresher course, in accordance with SS-ISO 18878:2013.

Employers' Responsibility for Fall Protection.
Employers are required to ensure that fall protection solutions are in place for individuals working at heights of 2 meters or more in areas where there is a risk of falling. By law, employers must develop a comprehensive fall protection program, which includes identifying fall hazards in the workplace, selecting the most suitable equipment for the task, and training employees on the proper use of fall protection equipment.

According to the Swedish Work Environment Authority's regulations, anyone operating a lift must be well acquainted with the work and possess both theoretical and practical knowledge for safe usage.The employer is required to maintain documentation of the worker’s knowledge, and the worker must also have written permission from the employer to operate a lift.

Rules for Renewal and Validity Period
The Swedish Work Environment Authority's regulation AFS 2023:11 § 29, Use of Lifting Devices and Lifting Equipment, outlines general knowledge requirements (§ 29). These comments highlight that Swedish standards provide guidance on the content of training for operators of mobile work platforms.
Lift training according to the Lift Training Plan (LLP) is based on the Swedish standard SS-ISO 18878:2013 – Mobile Elevating Work Platforms – Operator Training. The standard emphasizes the importance of refresher training and re-examination. In the 2013 edition, the requirement for retraining and re-examination every five years is even clearer than in previous versions.
